The centre dome of the tomb has lotus engraved in it and is further beautified by black marble inlay work. The main grave is wrapped with a scented chadar or cloth, which is dark green in color. Devotees offer their prayers at the shrine by showering rose petals and lighting incense sticks There is also a provision of a verandah where qawwali singing sessions are held in the evenings after the namaz prayers even today.

A mosque has been built right next to the tomb, and the tombs of many well known personalities are located close to the dargah. These include the tombs of Jahanara, daughter of Shahjahan, and Abu-al-Fazl, Akbar’s chronicler. The tomb of Amir Khusrau is located within Nizamuddin’s tomb.
